My superpower

During the cold war i really want the U.S. to win. One reason is that is where i live and the other is that we are huge and can't be beaten by communists. Afterall that is what we are fighting to stop. The U.S. has many resources to use and if we lost it would look bad. The U.S. needed to win

This war going on in 2010 is kind of like the cold war and in some ways is not. The war on terror is just as suspensful as the cold war. You never know when the next bomb will go off or who will send it off. Many are dieing and fight against it. This war is vs. Iraq and the U.S. This war and the cold war are very similar exept now it is more technologically advanced.

tensions; korean war

The Korean war was between north korea and south korea. It started when south korea invaded north korea. This war provided the first confrontation between the nuclear powers. Kim il sung invaded south korea because he was reassured that he would get back up from the soveit union leader, Stalin. This war was not a very long war but was still an important incident in history.

tensions; U-2

The U.S. created these airplanes thast they could fly over enemy territory to take pictures of their activity. sthese plane could not be detected over radar so they were very stealthy. Truman authurized the flight of these planes. he wanted to take picture of the activity concerning the missles in cuba placed there by Castro. These misslies were very large and could reach the U.S. in just five minutes. They were planning a strike to take out all of the missles in cuba at the same time. After some conincing and planning and talking the Soviet union finally removed the missles, but in turn we would have to remoe our missles in turkey.

tensions; arms race

The U.S. and the Soviet union were competing in an arms race. An arms race is when the two countries try to make better weapons than the other. When we made the H-bomb the soviet union began working on a better and bigger version. On january 31 1950 truman authorized the H-bomb to be be built. On Novembr 1st 1953 the U.S. explodes their first H-bomb. Close behind were the soviets exploding their first h-bomb in August 1953. When people began to realize that warfare was advancing to higher levels rapidly, they began building fallout shelters and had Air raid drills. The race to make the baddest weapon still continues today.

Tensons; space race;

The USSR was racing the U.S. to launch a satellite into orbit. We tried 100 launches and they all never made it. They either blew up or came back down. On October 9th the soviet union launched SPUTNIK(a russian staellite) into orbit. Now the U.S. was worried about an all out attack. The soviet Union could now send a nuclear warhead anywhere in the world. This made all American citizens very worried about how the future would turn out. We continued to try and put an american satellite into orbit. The soviets were now a huge threat to the U.S. and any other country that waged war on them. The U.S. finally got one into orbit. Our first one was on January 31, 1958. The U.S. was no longer scared.

cold war

This war was between the United States and the Soviet Union. The Cold War started in the 1945. The Cold War was about the U.S. containing communism. The soviet union wanted to spread communism all over the world but, the U.S. fought to stop it. Truman made a deal that all countiea who wanted to contain communism with us would get our aid. That document became the truman doctine. General McCarthy was a general during this war. He made many statements that the president didn't agree with. He ordered General McCarthy to withdraw those statements numerous times. China's new entrance into the creation of nuclear weapons. The U.S. was feeling vulnerable when we began to have suspicions of an American spy that was helping the other side create atomic bombs off of our ideas. Many cities were feeling vulnerable of an atomic attack. These fears lauched many civil defense excersises. Many began to prove their loyalty to the U.S. government.
